Experience . Natalia Hallam Counselling Sessions

Experience

In addition to running a successful private practice, I worked for several years for a sexual abuse and rape counselling service, where I gained my therapeutic experience, providing counselling for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, rape and domestic abuse. Consequently, I am skilled at offering a stabilising, empathetic and sensitive approach for vulnerable adults and young people with complex and interrelated issues.

I have also worked within the field of addiction recovery, public and private sector, mental health support and volunteering for a child protection charity. It was these working experiences which lead to my interest in counselling.

In recent years, I now provide sessions for staff members of a number of local agencies and businesses and am affliated with Walking With The Wounded Veterans Charity and BUPA private medical insurance. My work also involves supporting university students in Hampshire, as a Specialist Mentor to enable them to achieve good mental health and well-being and to overcome their barriers to learning.

Ethos

My experience has focused on working with survivors of rape, childhood sexual abuse and domestic abuse, trauma caused by abuse remains my area of interest. Trauma, in one capacity or another is at the root of most human suffering and is often minimised and dismissed by society.

Whatever the experience there is hope for healing through the safety of a professional relationship and quality of presence often not experienced before. Complex emotions can be uncovered, explored and managed, leading to feelings of empowerment, resilience and freedom. Fundamental changes in the healing process.
