Counselling and psychotherapy provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental professional relationship to express feelings, feel heard and understood and to gain clarity of life experience. Our patterns of relating to other people often cause blocks to leading an authentic, happy and peaceful life. Through a process of exploration and discovery these blocks are identified and challenged, bringing lasting change.
As a therapist I will encourage you to explore your experiences and express your feelings. Following therapy my clients often experience feeling more empowered, resilient and emotionally free from their negative self-beliefs, these lasting changes underpin Natalia Hallam Counselling ethos.

Counselling or Psychotherapy
Counselling is usually characterised as short-term and addresses present life difficulties. Typically 6-12 sessions is enough for a client to achieve their therapeutic goals and lasting change.
Psychotherapy on the other hand is recognised as a long-term therapeutic intervention and generally involves more complex difficulties, such as trauma.
Issues counselling can help with
Counselling and psychotherapy can provide support and relief from a vast number of different and often interconnected issues:
Counselling is also effective for those who can not identify any specific issues, but feel they could benefit from a regular weekly space to explore options for improvement and positive change.
I hold Humanistic Gestalt ethos; fundamentally, you know yourself, your experiences and feelings best and given the right conditions of a collaborative relationship and whole self approach, have the capacity to face your difficulties, resolve your problems and achieve lasting change.
Your unique process may also involve aspects of other appropriate counselling models to ensure your therapy process continues to meet your individual needs and progresses effectively, such as; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) or mindfulness to challenge recurring negative thoughts and reduce anxiety or to help you cope with symptoms of trauma and PTSD.
I understand taking the first step can be daunting, please feel free to contact me at anytime to discuss any questions you might have. You can call or text me on 07783 058343 or click here to email me If I am unavailable at the time of your call I will respond to your enquiry quickly.
During our call we will book you in for your first session. This is an initial assessment and your opportunity to meet me at my practice and learn more about my therapeutic approach. Together we will explore what brings you to counselling and your therapeutic goals in more detail. We will also consider if therapy is the best approach for your individual needs and if we feel we can work together.
